Wisconsin's small farms are the backbone of our local communities and economies, yet they face overwhelming challenges due to government-imposed "best practices" and "industry standards." These terms are often wielded as weapons against our hardworking farmers, burdening them with unrealistic and expensive requirements that do little to enhance the quality of produce but do much to jeopardize their livelihoods. Such regulations disproportionately affect small operations, preventing them from bringing their goods to market and competing on a level playing field. It is crucial that we recognize and reform these overbearing policies that threaten to drive our small farms out of business, ensuring that agricultural regulations are sensible, fair, and designed with the input of the real experts: the farmers themselves.
Furthermore, the issue of foreign entities, particularly from China, purchasing our farmland presents a grave concern. It is nearly an act of national treason that land for which Americans have fought and died is being sold to a government that does not share our interests or values. Allowing control over our agricultural resources to fall into the hands of potentially hostile nations not only undermines our national security but also threatens the sovereignty of our food supply. This should be a wake-up call for immediate action to safeguard our agricultural heritage and independence.
As your representative, I promise to stand up for Wisconsin’s small farms against overregulation and foreign exploitation. I will work tirelessly to ensure that our farmers have the freedom to operate and thrive without undue governmental interference. I will also push for legislation that restricts the sale of our critical agricultural land to foreign governments and entities, reinforcing the security and sustainability of our local food systems. It’s time we prioritize the interests of our own citizens and protect the legacy and future of Wisconsin’s farming communities.
